Cheap price for cheap product August 13, 2010 Daniel C. Biggers (Baltimore, MD) This product is no bueno. The sound consistently would cut of one of the speakers, so you would miss dialogue, or music, or anything else that would come out of it. Also, amazon is selling it for close to 50 dollars more than its competitors. What a piece of junk. Returned it immediately.
Great Reciever and for the Price. But Please read the Manual! June 10, 2010 J. C. Arrieta (LOS ANGELES, CA, US) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Come on Guys!!!. If it is a defective product, that is one thing, (That is why you always buy the extended warranty on all electronics) But people today never read their Manual. I cannot tell you how many people return this item and buy a system that cost more. When I asked them about reading their Manual, They seen to get more upset at me!!!. I have the New Model RT2870R and it is the best!!!. Before you return this bad boy, Read the Manual!! It is also in Spanish too. You can go online and download a Manual after you have thrown it out with the box that held the unit. Let us not become a place where we need to have everything set up for our entertainment
Best deal for the price May 27, 2010 S. DeBower 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I see a lot of people bashing this system, but for the price tag - well, you cannot do better! The receiver is pretty decent actually, and has features few would expect in a low cost model. The speakers are OK, but not spectacular. The subwoofer does a decent job. The reviews I read with complaints about distortion, well they might want to be realistic and not be cranking the system up to the max - after all you did already complain about the speakers not being high quality.
I am pretty satisfied with the quality for the price and may eventually get some better speakers for it. Look at it this way - not a bad price for a receiver these days, and some speakers to get you going; not a bad start if you ask me. Before insulting a product, consider what you are paying before expecting ludacrus results.
Buyers BEWARE!!! May 20, 2010 Larry D. LaForce (SoCal...on the edge of nowhere) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
So there are 2 versions of this product. One with the USB port in the front (newer) and one without (older version).
My brother & I got this for our PS3 and ran it via optical. The BIG (and I mean VERY BIG) problem with this is that we got sound from only half of our games & blu-ray movies. Why? This unit does NOT decode "DTS"!
Luckily we purchased it at Walmart (for the same price here) and returned right away.
Doesn't decode Dolby Digital May 5, 2010 F. Ferreira (NJ, USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I recently bought one of these and I am returning it. The unit would not decode dolby digital from the optical inputs. Tried it with a dvd player, ps3 and even with my computer.
