I grew up studying physics and hearing about Bose technology and all set to ONE DAY I WILL BUY A BOSE.
Now it was actually time to BUY and I started doing my research on the internet.
Here is what I found:
Bose are good LOUD speakers. Yes LOUD for their size. They will fill your room with sound.
Now this being said when I did further research here is what I found:
1. Bose did not cover the entire spectrum of sound frequencies or rather the major spectrum. Energy speakers on the other hand that does not enjoy the same marketing campaign as bose actually covers the entire range.
2. I asked several stores to play my own music on their bose setup and they claimed that the setup was a factory setup and the bose demo music cd is sealed into the setup and you can not play any other music. Now this rang the bell that bose actually does not want you to hear your own music. Their demo cd is actually optimized for their own setup.
Let me come to Energy now:
1. The speakers have a very crisp and clear sound output and I have connected them to my latest PIONEER receiver.
2. Movies are coming alive with sounds and dialogs that I never seemed to have heard before. I mean these are movies I own and have watched the same movies several times.
3. Price: These $999 speakers are now available for a deal of $399.
4. The speakers are not for loud eardrum shattering music but very good for casual home use.
5. Video games are coming alive when I play them connected to my receiver.
Overall a very very satisfied customer and I am glad I did my home work before I put my $'s.

Crisp, clear sound. Tiny satellites blew me away. Subwoofer fills in nicely. Tested with yamaha RX-V465 receiver and a copy of 'Contact' when Jodie Foster is first dropped into the alien portal device. Wow. This system produced every nuance of the swirling soundtrack and also shook the room. Couldn't be happier with it in a 12'X 16' room. May not fill a huge room with sound, but I love it.

This small speaker system produces big sound in my 14' x 16' room. Looks great and due to its size you don't notice it, until the sound starts.

I am thrilled with the sound quality from the Energy RC-Micro speakers, even before completing the 50-hour break-in period. I installed these in a challenging living room situation (large, open floor plan, high ceilings, recessed TV nook, limited placement options, subwoofer relegated to the center of the room), but nevertheless they produce clear, full, room-filling sound that defies their small size. I paired them with the Pioneer VSX-9040TXH receiver, and after running speaker calibration and dialing in the subwoofer settings, the sound is outstanding for both 5.1 and stereo music and soundtracks. (FYI, a crossover setting of 100 Hz on the receiver, with the dial maxed out to 150 Hz on the subwoofer, resulted in the best blend between the satellites and the sub to my ears. I also set the volume knob on the sub to its midpoint before balancing speaker and sub output on the receiver, to leave plenty of headroom to lower bass for background TV listening, crank it for music, and return to reference levels with a quick turn of the dial.)
The speakers are solidly constructed, with smooth, rounded edges, nice removable cloth grilles, and beautiful glossy black finish that complements the latest flat-panel HDTVs. The included cloth works great for rubbing off oily fingerprints. Everything was packaged extremely well in the box.
I think these were a bargain at $398 from Electronics Expo, compared to similar packages such as the Klipsch HD Theater and Definitive Technology ProCinema series.
One last word about using the threaded inserts on the RC-Micro satellites for wall mounting -- because the threaded inserts are unusually recessed into the speaker about 3/4" from the back side, the common "universal" speaker mounts most likely will not work right out of the box (the screws in the mount kits and the screws included with the speakers will both be too short). I had to use 1-1/2" 1/4-20 machine screws with multiple washers to make a snug fit. Otherwise, no problems. The speakers are light enough to tolerate multiple speaker mount extensions if you need to extend them out several inches from the wall (to be even with a wall-mounted TV, for example).
